Serrano residents have many options when it comes to quality education at all levels. The public elementary, middle, and high schools serving Serrano consistently place within the top 10 percent of all California schools, according to the California Academic Performance Index (API). Students attending public elementary and middle schools are either in the Buckeye Union School District or the Rescue Union School District. (The school district boundaries run through the Serrano community.)

The Buckeye Union School District has two onsite Serrano elementary schools and an onsite middle school. Buckeye and Rescue also have traditional-year schools that may be open to Serrano students. Please check with the school district if you are interested in traditional-year schools.

All Serrano high school students are within the El Dorado Union High School District. Most public high school students attend Oak Ridge High School, adjacent to the Serrano community and some attend Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs.

For those residents who prefer private secular or religious schools, there are also many choices within El Dorado Hills and the broader community. And young families have easy access to several daycare and pre-schools in El Dorado Hills.

At the college and university level, students are within driving distance of a variety of institutions of higher learning offering both liberal arts and specialized programs. These schools range from some of the best community colleges in the state to the prestigious University of California at Davis.
